Recent studies suggest it may be possible to reconstruct images from a persons mind and display them onto a computer. Someday further it may also enable scientists to view a persons dream even as they are having them.
Scientists were able to produce images viewed by a person onto a computer by analyzing changes in their cerebral blood flow. Holding up flashcards, they were able to map the blood flow changes that occurred in the cerebral visual cortex. Basically, after mapping the blood flow, the computer crunched the data and learned to associate the various changes in brain activity with the different image designs.
As shown in the picture, subjects were shown flashcards of the letters N-E-U-R-O-N , and the system was able to display what the subject saw directly, based only on brain activity.
I find this highly interesting because someday we may actually be able to validate individual supernatural experience for further study. If we truly are able to someday recreate experiences for everyone to see, it would be one step forward for the serious and practical study of the supernatural.

I think if Parapsychologists can eventually make use of the technology it may provide another nugget of validity to their studies. Even if they captured pictures of ghosts or ufo's from peoples minds, I think the deniability by skeptics will remain the same as it's been for eyewitness accounts and photos. Mainstream science & society will likely be using the technology in other ways. Facinating news though. With that and robot girfriends now a reality, I truly feel at times like I'm living in a Sci Fi movie.
ReplyDeleteI believe ghosts exists, as for believing in them? About as much as I believe in any other person...but if they have the guts to stick around then all the more reason to.
ReplyDeleteAs for the article, VERY neat. I am going to read up a bit more on that. Thanks for posting it!
